This monitor works great for all of those. I just do schoolwork, spreadsheets, and an occasional show on Netflix. I don't do any gaming or real entertainment with my computer monitor. Maybe it's because I was using two CRTs before, but after plugging in with just the VGA I was so happy I decided not to bother with a second monitor. I would buy another if the test was successful. I decided to start with one of these Acer monitors and test if it looked similar enough using the DVI with an HDMI adapter, and the VGA. I was a bit hamstrung because as a video editor I had become accustomed to two monitors for increased desktop space, and my new computer has only VGA and HDMI output on the integrated video card.

Plenty wide enough, and even using VGA it looks great. 'Information' section unveils all data about input signal and about monitor model.I was going to buy two of these to use as a dual monitor setup, but found that one is enough. 'OSD' section is responsible for the menu window settings, however those settings involve only a single option: display time. 'Settings' section is traditionally responsible for various display options: interface language, video signal source, clear settings option, and others. On conditions of analog connection, this section uncovers a few more settings, including synchronization frequency, automatic picture adjustment, and signal focusing. 'Picture' section is responsible for picture parameters, brightness, contrast, color gamut settings, as well as for processing of video signal modes. The menu consists of four sections: Picture, Settings, OSD, Information. First of all, the user might employ preliminary default settings: image, sound, video signal source, and so on. Main menu can be activated by means of any button. No other functional options are stipulated by the framework. The stand allows adjusting the display pitch ratio only. The rear part contains a dedicated socket for analog audio interface it is intended at output of audio signal to external devices (receiver, home cinema, etc.). They do not have any subscription or lighting and are similar in shape. All control buttons are located on the lower part of the board. The frontal part of the display contains only Acer's logo and LED technology sign. The base features glossy and dull surface textures which make it rather stylish. Still, G276HL has got a bit different framework with a cruciform base that perfectly supports the display. The majority of contemporary monitors are designed according similar template, with oval base and rectangular display framed by a black mince. The monitor is delivered in a disassembled way with three basic parts: stand, stand base and display itself.

The nominal delivery kit of Acer G276HL consists of a power supply cable, an external PSU, CD with drivers and guidelines, a brief user's manual, warranty, and D-Sub to D-Sub cable. Hence, the monitor consumes only 26W in active mode. The manufacturer has dedicated much time to decrease the level of power consumption. Due to a rather thin display casing, power supply unit is external. There are no built-in audio system that would transform this display into a separate multimedia device. They are able to provide for qualitative video signal for the majority of up-dated resources. Video interface is represented by a typical set of outputs: D-Sub, HDMI, DVI. At the same time, dynamic contrast ratio is estimated at one hundred million to 1 that is also an average showing for a semiprofessional product. Thus, Acer does not unveil the exact ratio of static contrast it's only possible to take a mean index of 3000:1 for such type of monitors. It should be noted that the company does not provide much information about its new product, leaving some potential customer audiences in suspense. The number of displayed colors achieves 16.7 millions. The claimed brightness equals to 300 cd/m2 this is an average index for a semiprofessional display. The monitor employs WVA panel type (6 ms response time) and is equipped with LED lighting. WVA technology is not new but is called to fulfill all standard assignments to compete with more advanced options.Īcer G276HL features 27-inch display, 16:9 aspect ratio and 1920x1080 resolution. Acer G276HL is a representative of a small army of monitors based on WVA panel. However, there are some monitors that employ rather rare arrays, like WVA, which appeared long time ago and now emerge in the market with a bit modified technologies. The choice of panel depends on the product's class and destination.
